I know Tom Danielson was super relieved when I told him that I spotted the Fassa Bortolo guys waiting for us at the airport. I think he really didn’t believe until that moment that we were actually in Italy for anything but a weird layover before the Tour de L’Avenir. He was constantly drilling me the whole trip. “You sure they will be there to pick us up at the airport?” When I told him they were there to get us, a grin spread across his face. I could just see the wheels turning. He finally figured it out. The fairy tale was actually reality.
